June is always the warm up act to the holiday period as the estate prepares for a busy summer ahead. With visitor numbers increasing and the work programme filling up the estate certainly starts to get a buzz about it. The Fishery staff are in full swing checking delivering fishing instruction and checking up on the estate waters including the boat out on the pike filled loch. The maintenance keep their hand in tidying up the Castlewynd buildings across from the Visitor Centre and the phones keep ringing allowing the Visitor Centre staff to spill their local knowledge to visitors.
In amongst the foot stamping staff (listening to Mumford & Sons in preparation for the nearing music festival!) different groups come and go on the estate enjoying their own little corner of activity. We even had a vintage Bentley Rally stop in at the Druie café!
If that is not enough both staff and visitor are getting crooked necks from looking up in hope of catching a glimpse of an osprey overhead as they fly to the osprey pond on Rothiemurchus to get their supper!
